The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has announced that all Welcome Centers and rest areas across the state will not be closing their doors.

Officials say this will include the Whitehaven Welcome Center at Exit 7, and the Christian County Welcome Center along the Kentucky-Tennessee state line.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet shared the importance of keeping the Welcome Center and rest area locations open.

"Rest areas and Welcome Centers are an important safe haven for road-weary drivers. Motorists and truckers will continue to have access to parking lots and rest room facilities."

Although staff at these locations will be dedicated to keeping the facilities clean and sanitized, there will not be any travel consultants available on-site until further notice.
