The advisory continues until noon Sunday across the northern half of the area, generally north of a line from Perryville MO to Carbondale IL to Morganfield KY.
West winds of 15 to 25 mph with frequent gusts between 40 and 45 mph are expected. Between midnight and 6 AM, some gusts may near or exceed 50 mph behind the cold front.
With saturated soil, some trees may be toppled, which could cause power outages. Minor structural damage is also possible.
Any loose or unsecured objects left outdoors will likely be tossed around.
Driving will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
