A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to ramp up preparation for a major work zone along I-24 in Lyon, Caldwell and Trigg counties.

The work zone will run from the 51 mile marker east of Kuttawa to the 65 mile marker at Cadiz. The work will include the construction of crossovers to allow two-way traffic on the westbound lanes, freeing up the eastbound lanes for replacement of concrete pavement and a drainage improvement project.

Truckers should be aware of this work zone because they involve a 12-foot load width restriction for eastbound lanes, and a 15-foot load width restriction for westbound lanes.

The work is expected to begin in early March.
