Windy conditions today bring elevated fire risk

The National Weather Service says there'll be an elevated fire risk this afternoon.

Winds around 20 miles per hour will gust to near 30 mph in western Kentucky, and up to 35 mph in southern Illinois and southeast Missouri. The winds combineed with low humidity of 30 percent or less, and plenty of dry vegetation will make for a dangerous combination today.

Outdoor burning is discouraged, and be mindful of equipment that can give off a spark to be enough to start a fire.
