Gov. Andy Beshear has ordered flags at all state office buildings to be flown at half-staff in honor of former Gov. Martha Layne Collins, who passed away over the weekend at the age of 88.
Gov. Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff in Collins’ honor until sunset on the day of interment. Arrangements for the former governor have not yet been announced.
It is also unknown if and where she will lie in state, a tradition for deceased past governors, as the State Capitol is closed for a multi-year renovation project, and the Capitol Rotunda is where well-wishers can pay their last public respects.
Individuals, businesses and organizations throughout the state are encouraged to join in the tribute.
