T-Rac wasn't the only critter on board when the Tennessee Titans Caravan rolled into Paducah Tuesday afternoon. A majestic bald eagle and some other holdings of the Tennessee State Parks Services also drew quite a crowd at Logans Roadhouse.
Tennessee State Parks are the official sponsor of T-Rac during the caravan, and park staff have made dozens of visits to schools with their menagerie this spring. In most cases, the animals were rescued after being injured by flying into power lines or being entangled in fences, and have been nursed back to health by wildlife experts. Whenever possible, the animals are returned to the wild as soon as they've healed, but some animals never recover fully enough to fend for themselves. Those remain as guests at facilities like the parks, and are used in educational programs. For example, the bald eagle on display yesterday suffered a broken wing that was too damaged to be released, so it has become a resident at Reelfoot Lake park facilities.
A screech owl, a barred owl and a corn snake were also among the attractions.
