Discovery Park of America (DPA) announced Thursday that Larry Richardson, an artist, naturalist, and author who has spent a lifetime either conserving or celebrating the great outdoors, will “bring the outside in” as his work becomes the latest to be recognized in DPA’s Artist Showcase.

His paintings will be displayed in the lower level of Discovery Center January 10th to March 31st. The opportunity to attend a free interview with the artist and reception to launch the exhibit will be held January 10th in DPA’s Dinosaur Hall. The reception will begin at 5:30 pm and the interview will begin at 6:00 pm. Prints of Richardson’s work will be available for purchase.

Richardson, a native of Western Kentucky who now resides in Clarksville, Tenn., captures in oil, watercolor and acrylic impressionistic renderings of memories and moments in history. Children out for swim on an Aug. afternoon, Canadian geese caught on a marsh’s thin ice, sunset on a lake, or barges making their way down the Cumberland have all been the subject matter of his brush. His current project, “Cumberland River – An American Legacy,” presents his take on the almost 700-mile long waterway.

“Larry Richardson’s love of the outdoors and the history of this region makes him a perfect match for Discovery Park,” said Scott Williams, CEO and President of Discovery Park. “I hope our members and anyone interested in art and conserving the natural beauty of this area will join us for the panel discussion and opening reception.”
