According to the U.S. Geological Survey at the University of Memphis, the quake was centered 4.8 miles northwest of Tiptonville, and 26.7 west of Union City.
It occurred at 5:58 am.
The USGS says that a quake of 2.5 is the threshold of humans being able to detect the ground shaking.
