According to the U.S. Geological Survey at the University of Memphis, the small tremor was centered six miles northwest of Tiptonville near the Mississippi River, and 26 miles west of Union City.
The USGS says that a quake magnitude of 2.5 and above is the threshold of humans being able to feel the ground shaking.
