TN Governor to Attend Fort Campbell Meeting

Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and state lawmakers and are planning to attend a "listening session'' at Fort Campbell as the Army considers how many soldiers to keep stationed at the sprawling post on the Kentucky-Tennessee state line.



The Fort Campbell meeting is being held on Tuesday evening at the Family Resource Center, which holds 700 people. Community leaders say they want to exceed the building's capacity.



According to an Army report, the post could lose up to 16,000 soldiers and civilians, who in turn have more than 24,000 spouses and children living in the community. The Army is the primary employer in both Christian County, Kentucky, and Montgomery County, Tennessee.



The study estimates the reductions would cost nearly $967 million in income and $769 million in sales tax receipts by 2020.
