A threat made on social media Wednesday night resulted in soft lockdowns the next day at two northwest Tennessee school districts.

Union City and Obion County Schools were concerned about student safety and limited access to their buildings. School was in session, but parents were allowed to come get their kids if they wanted.

Multiple law enforcement agencies went to the schools to perform safety checks.

According to Union City Police Chief Perry Barfield, a multi-agency investigation into the post on Snapchat led them to believe it came from a 15-year-old girl from Fulton, Kentucky.

Barfield said police are talking with district attorneys in Tennessee and Kentucky to determine the jurisdiction and appropriate charges for the girl.
