According to the USGS at the University of Memphis, the first quake occurred at 8:12 pm, measuring 2.6 on the richter scale, and was centered in the Calvary community of northwestern Dyer County, five miles south-southeast of Ridgely.
Saturday morning at 6:57, a second quake measuring 2.1 was recorded near Cooter, Missouri, 24 miles west of Dyersburg.
The USGS says that a quake of 2.5 is the threshold of humans being able to detect the ground shaking. No damage has been reported from these earthquakes.
