The Paducah Chiefs forged a four-run lead in the 6th inning and held on to win 6-5 over the league-leading Full Count Rhythm Saturday night in Hendersonville, TN.
The first half of the game was an epic pitchers duel.
Full Count pitcher Jonah Smithson struck out 10 and scattered four Paducah hits over five innings.
Chiefs pitcher Cole Pauley struck out five as he held the Rhythm scoreless and hitless for the first five innings.
TK Madera and Noah Wagster collected two hits apiece for Paducah.
The Chiefs are still three games behind the Rhythm for the OVL lead heading into the final week of the regular season. The top two teams will get byes in the first round of the playoffs that begin on Tuesday, July 22.
Paducah hosts Madisonville at Brooks Stadium on Monday, and Fulton on Tuesday. Jeff Bidwell has the call for both games at 6:30 on 99.5 The Fan.
