An investigation is underway at the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville after surveillance footage allegedly captured an employee engaging in a sexual act with an inmate.

The Kentucky State Police said its detectives arrested 26-year-old Alysta Mathis of Dawson Springs on Monday after receiving a call from the Kentucky State Penitentiary that afternoon, accusing the caseworker of having sex with an inmate.

KSP said the alleged act was caught on a security camera.

After reviewing the footage, Mathis was taken into custody and charged with third-degree rape and third-degree sodomy. She was lodged in the Crittenden County Jail while the investigation continues.
