Kuttawa man charged after Lyon County crash

A Kuttawa man has been charged following a crash in Lyon County last week.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said that they were called out to a crash along KY 1271 at about 7:30 a.m. last Monday. Investigators believe that a car driven by 36-year-old Richard N. Thompson, Jr. of Kuttawa was headed west on KY 1271 and crossed the center line into the path of an SUV driven by 45-year-old Heather Evans, also of Kuttawa.

Evans told deputies that she had just come around a curve when she saw Thompson’s vehicle coming into her lane. She told them she tried to avoid the collision, but could not. While both drivers had some minor injuries, neither was taken to the hospital.

Thompson was allegedly determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance. He faces charges for that, in addition to a reckless driving charge.
