Paducah Police, in partnership with the National Shooting Sports Foundation and Project ChildSafe, have launched a new gun lock safety program.

The program will provide gun owners with free gun locks, along with printed firearm safety information. There is no paperwork or personal information required to get one of the free locks. They will be available by stopping by the lobby of Police Headquarters during regular business hours.

Additionally, Paducah Police will have a booth set up at the Paducah Farmers Market on May 9th. That outreach is designed not only to distribute the locks but also to assist with information about safe gun storage.

Police said that the new program is another effort by the department to prevent accidental injuries from weapons not stored properly.
