On Monday, Crittenden County School students and staff wore blue in honor of their own "Officer Rick," Sheriff's Deputy Rick Coyle.

Coyle also serves at the school resource officer on the school campus.

Deputy Coyle was shot while on duty for the Sheriff's department on April 3 at a residence along KY 365. He was flown to Deaconness Hospital in Evansville in critical condition.

Some students posted that they will try to wear blue to school each day until Officer Rick returns.

Other tributes and mentions of Deputy Coyle have been in the Chicago area news. Earlier in Coyle's career, he was an officer and member of the SWAT team during his tenure in Chicago.

Coyle is a graduate of Chicago's Brother Rice High School.
