One dead in single-vehicle crash in Alexander County

One person was killed in a crash Friday night in Alexander County, Illinois.

Illinois State Police said the accident occurred on IL Route 3 at Cypress Lane at around 8:10 p.m. 

They said a pickup truck went off the road and hit a utility pole, knocking down several wires.

The truck caught on fire, becoming completely engulfed.

First responders were able to remove the driver, who was transported by Air Evac to a regional hospital, but later died.

The victim’s identity was not released.
