One person was injured during a shooting near a high school football game in Mayfield Friday night.
The season-opening Graves County/Mayfield game was suspended after gunshots were heard near the stadium in the fourth quarter.
According to the Mayfield Police Department, the shooting happened in a parking area adjacent to the War Memorial football stadium.
They said one adult victim was taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center and later flown to an out-of-state medical center for treatment.
Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to contact Mayfield police.
On Saturday morning, Mayfield Independent Schools posted that they will open War Memorial Stadium during designated times this weekend for anyone needing to collect items left behind on Friday night.
The stadium will be open from 12 - 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon, and Sunday afternoon from 2- 4 p.m.
Individuals will be allowed in four at a time, escorted by law enforcement.
The school system also canceled all remaining weekend school events.
The Graves County/Mayfield game did not finish; it was suspended after gunshots were heard near the stadium in the 4th quarter, with Mayfield leading Graves County 40-7.
According to the KHSAA Riherds Scoreboard, 40-7 will serve as the final score of the game.
