Metropolis Man Charged with Sexually Abusing WomanA Metropolis man faces a sex abuse charge, after police say he approached a woman on Wednesday and groped her.
The Metropolis Police Department says officers responded on Wednesday to a home in the 200 block of W. 18th Street. The victim told officers she had recently caught her dog that had gotten loose and returned home. At that time 69-year-old Larry Burris drove up to her home, got out of his vehicle and approached her.
Burris reportedly told the woman she needed a hug, and she replied that she did not. Police said Burris proceeded to hug the woman anyway. He then reportedly touched her inappropriately.
Police later found Burris, and the victim identified him in a photo line-up.
Burris was charged with criminal sexual abuse and booked into the Massac County Detention Center.
