Drug charge for Benton woman after traffic stop

A Benton woman was charged with drug possession on Saturday after a traffic stop near Fairdealing.

Marshall County Sheriff's deputies stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Barge Island Road and KY 1484. A computer check on 41-year-old Amanda Skelton of Benton reportedly showed that her driver's license had been suspended or revoked. Further investigation allegedly uncovered methamphetamine.

Skelton was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine,  driving on a suspended or revoked license, and traffic violations.

Skelton was also served with a warrant for failure to appear out of Marshall District Court.
