Crash Cleanup at I-24 Westbound 2mm Today
By WestKyStar Staff

As a reminder, several crews will be working along I-24 westbound near the 2 mile marker today to repair damage to guardrail and right of way at this crash site.

Motorists should expect to encounter one lane traffic in this area starting about 7:30 a.m., and continuing through the day.

A semi crash on I-24 westbound at the two-mile marker in McCracken County may cause traffic delays and require drivers to make alternate travel plans for most of the day Wednesday.

The truck was hauling large rolls of paper when it left the roadway at mid-morning. It make take some extra time to remove the cargo scattered along the roadway.

Recovery of the truck is expected to be completed by early afternoon, but extensive cleanup and repair of the slope is needed. Drivers on I-24 should expect one-lane traffic in this area until about dark tonight, and there may be brief traffic stoppages during recovery activities.
A guardrail crew will likely be at this site on Thursday to repair an extensive section of guardrail that was taken out by the crash.

Drivers wanting to avoid delays should detour off at EXIT 4 or EXIT 3 and use the US 45 Ohio River Bridge between Paducah and Brookport.  However, it is restricted to vehicles no wider than 8 feet.
