Oak Grove couple charged with criminal abuse of children

An accidential call to 911 leads to the arrests Wednesday of an Oak Grove couple on criminal abuse charges.

WKDZ reported Oak Grove Police as indiciating they went to the home on Pembroke Oak Grove Road.  When they arrived, 34-year -old Michael Carter and a two year old child came to the door.  The child was not clothed and covered with feces.

When officers went into the home, there was trash, feces and spoiled food.  It was also discovered two other children, one under the age of 12 and another over 12, were sleeping in the living room area.  Investigators also noted there was not a working bathroom and the children were using containers in the living room.

It was also learned there had been no air conditioning in the home since 2022 and the children had last bathed in August.

Michael Carter and his wife, 33-year-old Stacie Carter were charged with three counts of criminal abuse and lodged in the Christian County Jail.
