The Ballard County Sheriff's Department has announced a second arrest in their investigation of driveway scammers from March and April.

In a press release, Sheriff Todd Cooper said Randy Oaks of Urbana, IL was arrested Monday, and his father, Dewayne Oaks is being sought for his involvement. Cooper said the men have no local ties to the area, and he believes Dewayne Oaks is back in Illinois.

Between March 29th and April 15th, four complaints were received from Wickliffe, Kevil and LaCenter about men who would approach homeowners about doing work on driveways or yards. After a price was set and the work was done, the men would present a bill up to 7 times higher than agreed upon. Using loud voices and harsh language, the men would intimidate the homeowner into paying the higher amount. In one case, the worker took the victim's checkbook and filled in the amount.

Jay Joles of Wisconsin, who is a cousin to Randy Oaks, was arrested on April 16 and posted $1,000 bond. He made a court appearance related to his charges on April 29.
