Escaped Marshall County Inmate Captured

BENTON, KY - Authorities have apprehended a man who escaped from the Marshall County Detention Center on Sunday.

According to Kentucky State Police, Detention Center staff contacted troopers in Mayfield Sunday afternoon, after 27-year-old Justin Goad escaped from the facility.

Troopers responded Thursday night to Meacham Lane in McCracken County, where they found Goad. He fled the scene, but was caught after a brief brief foot pursuit.

Goad was charged with felony escape and felony fleeing or evading police. Police also arrested Kayla Birdwell of Paducah. She is charged with first and third degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Birdwell was also served with a Kentucky warrant for failure to appear in a pending Calloway County case, and being a fugitive from another state in reference to an outstanding Illinois warrant.

Both suspects were booked into the Marshall County Jail.
