1973 Fire Truck to Carry Casket in Today's Funeral
By West Kentucky Star Staff
PADUCAH - The funeral for a retired Paducah firefighter is Thursday, and his procession will be a bit unique.

Ray Galloway passed away Friday at age 88. He retired from the fire department as a captain in 1987 after serving for 33 years. He is survived by his wife, three sons, three daughters and several grandchildren.

In honor of his service, the Paducah Fire Department will participate in the funeral procession, including the use of a restored 1973 fire truck that will carry Galloway's casket to the grave site. Galloway's son, Jeff, said it's quite possible that his dad actually rode in the truck during his career.

Galloway's funeral will be at 1 pm Thursday at Lindsey Funeral Home, with visitation starting at 11 am. Burial will be at Mt. Kenton Cemetery on Lone Oak Road near the intersection with Bleich Road.

Other fire department vehicles may be used to help stop traffic along the procession route from downtown to the cemetery.
