Heath Appointed to KY State Fair Board
By West Kentucky Star Staff
FRANKFORT - At its meeting Thursday afternoon, the Kentucky State Fair Board appointed Kentucky State Representative Richard Heath to the Kentucky State Fair Board as an ex-officio member, representing House Speaker David Osborne.

The Kentucky State Fair Board is the governing body of Kentucky Venues with members representing agriculture, business, tourism and education. The board was first created in 1938 to oversee the Kentucky State Fair but now advises Kentucky Venues on its produced events and operations at the Kentucky Exposition Center and Kentucky International Convention Center.

During the 2021 Regular Session, Heath served as Chair of the House Standing Committee on Agriculture. He also served on the House Standing Committees on Small Business and Information Technology and State Government.

“It is an honor to continue my service to the people of Kentucky on this board,” Heath said. “Agriculture is the very backbone of our rural communities, particularly my district, but also throughout the state. The Kentucky State Fair is the epicenter of the agricultural community here in the Commonwealth, and I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Fair Board.”

“Chairman Heath provides a great deal of leadership and a strong voice for agriculture in the legislature and on the state level,” Osborne said. “He is a natural fit for the Kentucky State Fair Board, and I am pleased he agreed to serve in this role.”

Under the Kentucky Venues brand, two major convention and exhibition facilities - the Kentucky Exposition Center and the Kentucky International Convention Center - serve regional, national and international clients. Governed by the Kentucky State Fair Board, Kentucky Venues also produces signature events: the Kentucky State Fair, World’s Championship Horse Show, National Farm Machinery Show, Championship Tractor Pull, North American International Livestock Exposition and North American Championship Rodeo.
