Name: Shekell, Billy

Billy Gene Shekell, 88, of Ledbetter passed away at 11:55 PM on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at his residence.


Mr. Shekell was the owner and founder of Paducah Industrial Catering (1968), owner of Rib Cage BBQ with his son, David Shekell, and purchased Munal’s Donut Shop in 1980. He was of the Pentacostal Faith, a Kentucky Colonel, lifetime member of the VFW American Legion Post 31 of Paducah and a Veteran of the Navy during the Korean War.


He is survived by his daughter, Tonya Loyd of Ledbetter; one brother, Jerry Shekell and wife Karen of Paducah; life-long friend, Frances Shekell of Smithland; two grandchildren, Brent Doom of Paducah and Rachelle Smith of Paducah; two great grandchildren, Amarie Smith, DeShon Smith of Paducah; several nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents, James Shekell and Sallie (Hargis) Shekell; two sons, David Shekell and Leslie Shekell.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Hughes Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Joel Harper officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Ledbetter.


Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Hughes Funeral Home of Paducah.
