Several Test Positive for COVID at Paducah Schools
By West Kentucky Star Staff
PADUCAH - One Paducah Public Schools employee at Clark Elementary, a student at McNabb Elementary, and a student at Paducah Middle School have all tested positive for COVID-19.

The school system's communications coordinator Wayne Walden says PPS is following guidance from the Purchase Area Health Department, who is handling all case investigation and contact tracing with cooperation from the school district. None of the cases are connected or suspected to have originated in the school environment.

Walden says the people who met the criteria of a close contact have already been contacted by the health department to receive instructions. While no other individuals were identified in the school district as meeting the criteria of a close contact of the staff positive case, the two student positive cases resulted in a combined fourteen individuals identified as potential exposures. As a safety precaution they were quarantined immediately upon identification.

Walden says PPS will continue to work closely with the health department and take the recommended steps to ensure the safety of all students, faculty, and staff.
