Election Board: Williams, PAC Didn't Coordinate Ad
By AP
FRANKFORT, KY - The Kentucky Registry of Election Finance has cleared former Senate President David Williams and a political action committee of illegal coordination during the 2011 election.

But, the registry found that the political committee, Restoring America, violated reporting rules by not initially reporting that Williams' father-in-law, millionaire businessman Terry Stephens, provided the money to fund the group or that it spent large sums on polling and other services.

The registry says that Williams, Stephens and others swore that there was no coordination of how the money was spent and there's no probable cause to support a criminal charge.

The group's lawyer, Eric Lycan, told The Courier-Journal the group tried to comply with the law and acted on legal advice from the Republican Governors Association.
