South Side Kroger Accepting Food Donations Today
By West Kentucky Star Staff
PADUCAH, KY - The public is invited to drop off food donations again today from noon to 6 pm at the Kroger store located on Irvin Cobb Drive.

The Bryant Law Center says they will donate $1 to the food banks for every four cans or four pounds of food donated. The food donations benefit Food Frenzy, a statewide fund drive competition among Kentucky law firms, law schools and legal organizations to support the members of the Kentucky Association of Food Banks.

“Our cash donation to the food banks will allow them to purchase additional items that they will need,” said Mark Bryant, in a press release to West Kentucky Star.

“It is important that we fill our food banks before the extreme need this summer when schools are closed, and children are not receiving meals at school.”

More than 700,000 Kentuckians, including more than 200,000 children, struggle with hunger. Only one in 13 school-aged children who receive free and reduced-priced lunch during the school year have access to such meals during the summer months. The Legal Food Frenzy is timed to provide a much-needed supply of resources to Kentucky’s food bank network to meet increased demand during the summer months when schools are closed.

Donations can also be dropped off at the Bryant Law Center through Friday, April 7.
